The Turkish Statistics Institute announced the real estate sales statistics for September 2019.
According to the data, real estate sales in Turkey increased by 15.4% compared to the same month last year and amounted to 146 thousand 903 properties.
On the other hand, the sale of housing to foreigners fell in September 2019. Last month, real estate sales to foreigners decreased by 25.6% compared to the same month last year and reached 4 thousand 177 properties.
In September 2019, Istanbul ranked first in real estate sales to foreigners and the number of properties sold was 1924 property.
Antalya came second with 744, followed by Ankara with 239, Bursa with 213, and Yalova with 141 properties.
Iraqi Citizens Still at the Top
Iraqis interest in the purchase of real estate in Turkey continues as before. As in previous months, Iraqis still rank first among foreign citizens buying property in Turkey.
In the last month, Iraqis bought 781 properties from Turkey.
Iraq was followed by Iran with 489 properties, Russia with 248, Saudi Arabia with 214 and Kuwait with 191 properties.
Increase in real estate sales to foreigners compared to last year
Property sales to foreigners have increased compared to the first nine months of last year.
While the number of properties sold was 24 thousand 155 in the first nine months of 2018, sales in the same period of 2019 were 31 thousand 925 properties.
Istanbul, Antalya, Ankara, Bursa, and Yalova were among the most cities where properties sold to foreigners in Turkey.
