Rough construction work has been completed to renovate the Rami Barracks, which will be the largest library in Turkey upon completion.
Rami Barracks, which was abandoned by the army in the 1960s and remained neglected for a long time, will be used as a library.

Upon completion of the restoration work, the Rami Barracks will be the largest library in Turkey with an area of 220,000 square meters.
The work is carried out in accordance with the studies and without delay on schedule.
Rough construction work finished
Construction of the part overlooking Rami Barracks Street has been completed.
The debris collected from the construction site is made smaller by the construction machinery and loaded to the trucks and carried out.
Seven million books in the first phase
The place will contain 7 million books in the first phase, and it will be called ‘Rami Book and Culture Valley’.
There will be Thematic libraries such as the Children’s Library and the Art Library.
The place dates back 250 years
Upon completion of the restoration work, the place will be home to 120 commercial venues
including 990 wholesaler shops, banks, and restaurants, in addition to the museum and the library, shopping centers and 200 acres of landscaping.
Besides, there will be a total of 1,240 parking spaces for visitors, including 541 indoor parking spaces, 634 outdoor parking spaces, and 65 truck parking spaces.
Rami Artillery Barracks, which has a history of 250 years, is called ‘Rami Farm Barracks’ in the archives and it was renovated during the period of Sultan Mahmoud II.
The barracks left by the army in the 1960s have long been neglected. In the 1980s, it was transferred to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
