General Directorate of Highways of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced that some parts of the Menmen-Aliağa-Çandarlı Highway were opened to traffic as of October 30, 2019.
The highway project, announced in 2017, will provide a significant solution to the traffic problem on the northern axis of Izmir, where important industrial and tourist centers are.
The works on Aegean highway will finish this year
According to the information, the Menemen-Aliağa-Çandarlı road was named the North Aegean Highway.
With the completion of this project, drivers can cross the distance between Çandarlı and Ege University in approximately 40 minutes.
This Highway project will facilitate going to the tourist centers in Foça, which known as the Aegean Sea paradise, through the Aliağa Road.
Foça is a coastal district of Izmir city in western Turkey, and it is an important tourist center, characterized by its beautiful nature and beaches in addition to its distinctive landmarks and historical monuments.
On the Aegean highway, 7 toll collection centers, 3 highway service areas, 6 viaducts, 38 bridges, and 182 outlets on the highway landscape were built.
The highway, with a total length of about 96 km, will be completed by the end of this year.
