Infrastructure work at Çukurova Airport will increase to 65 percent, and a tender will be launched to complete the construction of airport superstructure within the scope of Public-Private Cooperation.
Chokurova Airport has a capacity of 30 million passengers per year, and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure aims to complete the construction of the airport in 2023.
The airport will serve both Adana and Mersin cities.
According to the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ), construction of the airport has started in Yenice town of Tarsus district in Mersin, and infrastructure work is expected to reach 65 percent by the end of this year.
However, the tender for the airport superstructure facilities in the scope of public-private sector cooperation is planned to be launched in 2020.
The airport has been built on an area of 8 million square meters. In the airport, there are two runways, each 3500 meters long, and the width of one 60 meters and the other 45 meters.
